Frequently Asked Questions

Does LocalShare use the internet?
No. LocalShare creates a direct connection between devices on your local network (LAN/Wi-Fi). Your files never touch the internet, ensuring maximum speed and privacy.
Is there a file size limit?
There are absolutely no file size limits. You can transfer 100GB+ files as easily as a text document, limited only by your disk space and network speed.
Is it really secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard TLS encryption for the handshake and AES-256 for the data stream. Even if someone is snooping on your Wi-Fi, they cannot read your files.
Which platforms are supported?
We currently support macOS (Intel & Silicon), Windows 10/11, and most Linux distributions (Debian, Arch, Fedora). An iOS and Android companion app is in development.
